Operation Utah was a regional automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) exercise involving the three southern Wales forces, British Transport Police (BTP), Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and the Driver Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).  The operation targeted persons who were travelling to Cardiff and Bristol to obtain drugs.  A large number of persons were arrested throughout the day for offences of supplying Heroin, Terrorism, Theft, Wanted Persons, Revenue and Driving Offences.
