About Tarian Regional Organised Crime Unit

What is a ROCU?

Regional Organised Crime Units, or ROCUs, form a critical part of the national policing network. ROCUs investigate and disrupt Organised Crime Groups (OCGs) operating across police force boundaries, and provide support to investigations into specialist crime areas, such as cyber and economic crime. ROCUs also provide an important point of connection between police forces and the National Crime Agency (NCA). Many ROCU activities are not carried out in the public eye; they conduct sensitive and sometimes covert operations. Yet their work plays a vital part in protecting the public from Serious and Organised Crime (SOC).

We are Tarian

Tarian is the Regional Organised Crime Unit for southern Wales. We are a collaborative unit of police staff, and police officers from our constituent forces: South Wales Police, Gwent Police, and Dyfed-Powys Police. Tarian has over 20 specialist policing capabilities that enable us to conduct our own investigations, whilst also providing support to the forces, law enforcement agencies, government bodies, and industry partners. Gathering and developing intelligence, building cases, disrupting offenders, safeguarding individuals, engaging with members of the public, and seeking out convictions for the most dangerous criminals is all part of our holistic approach to tackling Serious and Organised Crime.
